Claremont, CA | May 16, 2025 – QuantumShield Technologies proudly announces that President and CTO Shawn Peng has been nominated and officially appointed by the United States National Committee (USNC) of ANSI as an expert representative to the IEC Project Team 63591, contributing to the development of IEC PNW 21-1241 ED1: Secondary Sodium-Ion Cells for the Propulsion of Electric Road Vehicles – Part 1: Performance Testing.

This significant appointment recognizes Shawn’s extensive expertise in battery technologies, innovation leadership, and commitment to advancing the global energy storage industry. As part of this international standards development effort, Shawn will collaborate with leading technical experts to establish critical testing and performance standards for sodium-ion cells used in electric and hybrid vehicle propulsion systems. These standards will guide manufacturers, regulators, and end-users, ensuring safety, reliability, and global interoperability for this emerging technology.

Sodium-ion batteries are increasingly recognized as a promising alternative to lithium-ion technologies due to their cost-effectiveness, enhanced low-temperature performance, and safer chemistries. The creation of a standardized testing framework is essential to accelerate the commercialization of sodium-ion solutions globally and to unlock their potential in addressing the energy transition and supply chain challenges.

“This appointment reflects QuantumShield’s leadership in the sodium-ion sector and our commitment to shaping a sustainable, standards-driven future for the industry,” said Shawn Peng. “I’m honored to contribute to this critical effort and look forward to collaborating with international experts to drive innovation and harmonization in battery testing standards.”

QuantumShield congratulates Shawn on this achievement and remains dedicated to pioneering safer, more sustainable energy solutions through advanced sodium-ion technology.
