Claremont, CA | Nov 15, 2024 – QuantumShield Technologies is pleased to share that President Shawn Peng and Chief Innovation Advisor Dr. Juchen Guo attended the 9th Annual International Conference on Sodium Batteries (ICNaB), held at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Richland, Washington, from November 11–14, 2024.
ICNaB is a premier global forum dedicated to advancing sodium-ion battery technology as a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to lithium-ion solutions, particularly for grid-scale energy storage and electric mobility. Each year, the conference brings together a diverse community of academic researchers, industry professionals, and policy experts to explore the latest developments in materials science, electrochemistry, system design, and commercialization strategies.
The 9th edition of ICNaB gathered over 160 participants from 11 countries, with more than 40 presentations and a poster session showcasing 27 cutting-edge projects. Discussions highlighted breakthroughs in battery materials, challenges in scalability and sustainability, and the potential of sodium-ion batteries to transform global energy infrastructures. Attendees also toured PNNL’s Grid Storage Launchpad (GSL), a $75 million facility dedicated to accelerating next-generation energy storage research.
While QuantumShield did not present at the conference, the team’s participation underscores its commitment to global collaboration and staying at the forefront of sodium-ion innovation. "Events like ICNaB are invaluable for shaping the future of energy storage," said Shawn Peng. "We are excited to continue learning, building partnerships, and contributing to the growth of the sodium-ion ecosystem."
The 10th ICNaB conference is scheduled for October 6–10, 2025, at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.
