Report Title: Optimal U.S. Site Selection for Sodium Ion Battery Production Facility
Claremont, California | May 9, 2025 – QuantumShield Technologies (QST) proudly announces the successful completion of a semester-long Team Master’s Project (TMP) in partnership with the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI), focused on identifying optimal U.S. locations for QST’s future large-scale sodium-ion battery production facility.
The TMP team delivered a data-driven site selection analysis that evaluated 10 critical factors, including Raw Materials and Supply Chain, Proximity to Market, Labor and Workforce, Utilities and Infrastructure, Economic and Policy Incentives, Regulatory and Environmental Factors, Safety and Security, Energy and Sustainability, Competitor Landscape, and Cost of Land. Each factor was assessed using specific metrics, resulting in a total of 31 data points per state. These metrics collectively informed our assessment of each state’s suitability for hosting a sodium-ion battery production facility.
Through rigorous research, cost modeling, and expert interviews, the team identified the top recommended locations for QST’s expansion. This collaboration marks a significant step in QST’s mission to build a sustainable, U.S.-based sodium-ion battery supply chain.

The culmination of the project was celebrated at the Riggs Research Symposium, where the TMP team showcased their work alongside other KGI innovators. Photos and videos from the event captured the collaborative spirit and the dedication that powered this project’s success.

QuantumShield extends heartfelt thanks to the TMP team, faculty, and all partners who contributed to this important project. As QST advances its mission to deliver safer, high-performance, and eco-friendly sodium-ion battery solutions, the knowledge gained through this collaboration will guide strategic decisions for years to come.
