
Dr. Timothy W. Ellis
Dr. Timothy W. Ellis is an expert in battery materials, recycling technologies, and technology management. He earned a Ph.D. in Metallurgy from Iowa State University, following a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering and an M.S. in Chemistry from Michigan Technological University. Dr. Ellis began his career at Ames Laboratory, U.S. DOE, researching Ni-MH battery materials and rare earth alloys.
He later joined Kulicke and Soffa Industries as Director of Corporate R&D, leading semiconductor packaging material development while earning a Master’s in Technology Management from the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2006, Dr. Ellis became Vice President of R&D at RSR Technologies (Eco-Bat), where he advanced lead-acid battery research and developed recycling technologies for lithium-ion and other chemistries. As President of Transformation at Eco-Bat, he helped align operational strategy with executive vision.
Although retired in 2021, Dr. Ellis remains active as Technical Director for BCI, supporting research programs, mentoring startups, and contributing to industry collaborations. He has led CBI/ALABC and ABRG efforts and continues shaping the battery industry’s innovation landscape.
