Dr.  Loren Martin

Dr. Loren Martin is the Associate Vice Provost of Research, Innovation & Partnerships at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI), where he also holds the George B. and Joy Rathmann Endowed Professorship. A neuroscientist-turned-entrepreneur, Dr. Martin has over 20 years of experience bridging academia, industry, and healthcare. His leadership roles include Chief Scientific Officer at Alter Behavioral Health, Chief Data Officer at Azusa Pacific University, and co-founder of Mindfuli, a virtual mental health platform.


At KGI, Dr. Martin leads growth strategies, industry partnerships, and manages a multimillion-dollar research portfolio. He teaches Biotech Entrepreneurship and mentors startups in fundraising, IP strategy, regulatory pathways, and market execution.


Dr. Martin serves on the Governing Committee for NIIMBL and advises the California Department of Health Care Services on substance use prevention. He holds a B.S. in Psychology from Olivet Nazarene University, a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Tennessee, and postdoctoral training from UC Davis and the California National Primate Center. He has also studied entrepreneurship at Babson College and AI in healthcare at MIT Sloan.
