
Dr. Juchen Guo
Dr. Juchen Guo is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering and Chair of the Materials Science and Engineering Program at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). He also serves as Co-Director of the Winston Chung Global Energy Center. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Guo’s research focuses on rechargeable battery technologies, particularly interfacial phenomena and electrolyte design for lithium-ion, lithium-sulfur, sodium-ion, and multivalent-ion batteries.
Dr. Guo earned his B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 1999 and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2007. He completed postdoctoral research at the University of Maryland and Cornell University before joining UCR as an Assistant Professor in 2012. He was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2018 and to full Professor in 2022.
Dr. Guo holds three U.S. patents and has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers. He is a recipient of the 2014 Hellman Fellowship and the 2018 NSF CAREER Award, recognizing his contributions to battery research and education.
