Chao Zuo is a seasoned expert in e-mobility and battery technologies, with over 18 years of global experience spanning advanced materials, battery systems, and vehicle propulsion integration. Based in Shanghai, he has worked across the U.S., France, and China, gaining deep insight into the global battery and e-mobility ecosystem.

Chao’s career includes leadership roles at BASF, A123 Systems, IntePower, PSA Group, Saleen, Canoo, UPower, and Hozon Auto. At BASF, he led e-mobility innovation for APAC, forging strategic partnerships and driving technology scouting. At Hozon Auto, he served as Chief Battery Engineer, shaping power battery system design and leading development of the Integrated Energy Cabin and Skateboard Chassis. Chao’s work also includes pioneering e-skateboard chassis at UPower, establishing e-propulsion systems at Canoo, and leading battery development at Saleen.

Chao holds an M.S. in Materials Chemistry from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. in Analytical Chemistry from Wuhan University. With a unique blend of technical depth, strategic vision, and cross-cultural leadership, Chao is a key driver in QuantumShield’s global battery business expansion.
